“They work on concepts that influence people specifically in their everyday lives. They analyze established ideas with the goal to create something new. They develop visions and shape the future directly.”
Because those descriptions match not only designers but also politicians suggest the assumption that their practice is not that far from each other as you might think in the first moment.
Under the title “Gesellschaftsgestalter – was die Politik vom Design lernen kann” (Society Designers – what Politics can learn from Design) I followed this line of thoughts and compared the design processes in politics and design. This led me to the question, what actually the specific skills of designers are and if those might be able to be transferred – detached from an object – on political design processes.
